ANCIENT ATTAR

A rose oil perfume, TIGRA signature scent.

A blend of rose (Damask Rose and Desi Gulab) and oud oils. It takes 15 days to make the attar and another 15 days to mature. Roses are plucked in the nearby rose farm at dawn, the blend with oud adds a bit of smokiness and androgyny. Sophisticated and mysterious.

A history of attar

The medieval northern Indian town of Kannauj, has been crafting oil-based distillation perfumes called ATTAR for several centuries. Unlike modern perfumes, which have alcohol as a carrier, because of its inexpensive and easy diffusion, attars instead use sandalwood oil, making them unctuous and highly absorptive. A drop of attar lingers on the skin, sometimes for days, and individually develops with the wearer’s own skin chemistry and natural oils.

Kannauj has been making attar for over 400 years - more than two centuries before Grasse, in France’s Provence region emerged as a perfume capital. In Kannauj, the distillations are equal parts poetry, tradition and science - storytelling and mythology, the soul of attar cannot be created in a lab, but through heritage and ritual.

Ingredients: Damask rose, Desi Gulab rose, Oud Oil, Sandalwood

Hand-blown glass bottle made in Firozabad. Box hand-crafted in New Delhi. Bottle comes with wax seal and cork, peel off the wax to use. Glass dabber is used to apply the potent oil to the skin.
